My Wild Child

Brooklyn's hair lately, has been out of control. I put clips in her hair, she tears them out, I put a headband on her, she tears it off, etc. Well the other day, I was able to capture a rare moment when her hair looked brushed and cute. I was especially excited that I was able to do pigtails to where all her hair fit.

On Monday we were able to have Ricky's parents and brother Skyler over for dinner. Afterwards, the guys watched the Mavs game while Brooklyn entertained the rest of us by biting her uncle Skyler's big toe. I know it sounds gross, but it was hilarious. Here's some pics from that night.

Walking and Talking

The other day, Brooklyn was talking and walking all over the house and having such a good time dragging around a bag. I thought some of you would enjoy watching her walk and talk in the video.

Vacation Time

Ricky started a new job today as a pharmaceutical rep for a company called Sanofi-Aventis. The past two weeks, Ricky was able to use some vacation days at Woodgrain before starting his new job. We were able to go to the Zoo, one day as a family and had a really good time. The part that we enjoyed the most was feeding the birds with the seed sticks that we bought there. The birds get so close and Brooklyn was amazed by this. Brooklyn also enjoyed waving and saying "hi" to all the animals. It was definitely a great day to go to the zoo.

Ricky and I were also able to go on a little getaway to Cancun. Ricky got his passport on Friday, I got mine Monday and we booked our flights that night. It was totally last minute. We then were searching for places to stay Monday night and I found a 4 1/2 star resort on Hotwire that was only $89 a night. The only problem was we didn't know which hotel it was. All we knew was that it was in the hotel zone, it was 4 1/2 stars and that it was $89 dollars a night. When Ricky and I were deciding if we wanted to take our chances I convinced him that it was liked putting a quarter in the gum ball machine and not knowing what color the gum ball was going to be. We took our chances and we ended up staying at Le Meridien. The hotel was absolutely beautiful.

Ricky and I had a really good time there while Brooklyn stayed with Ricky's parents. We laid out by the pool and beach, we went downtown to do some shopping (which is scary!!), and we shopped at some tourist shopping areas. It was really fun. The only regret Ricky and I have is that we didn't go to Senor Frogs the second night we were there. We went there the last night we were there and had so much fun. The waiters were hilarious and there was a band that was playing while we ate. After dinner we even danced a little bit. In short, it's a fun place to go.

Catching up.....

I know that I have been horrible at keeping this updated, but I have set a goal for myself to be better at keeping this blog up to date. Since I last wrote, Brooklyn had her first Christmas, and her first Birthday. For Brooklyn's Birthday, she had her first party and had some close friends and family came over. We played some games, ate some cake and opened presents. Brooklyn even got her very own Birthday cake!! It was a fun party and Brooklyn was blessed with some amazing gifts.

This past weekend we were able to attend a Thiot family reunion in Jacksonville, FL. One of the first things that we were able to do while we were there was go to the beach. Brooklyn was amazed at how fun the beach can be. We chased the birds, picked up shells, and played in the sand. I think that Brooklyn enjoyed being able to walk on the sand with no shoes on. It was a great family reunion and I'm glad that I was able to meet family that I had never met.

December is Anniversary Month

December is the month for Anniversaries in our family. It's the month that Ricky and I celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and our 1st Anniversary as home owners. This past Weekend Ricky and I celebrated our 3rd Anniversary. Ricky surprised me by telling me that I needed to dress-up and that Brooklyn was going to have a sleepover with her grandparents. He ended up bringing me to a really nice restaurant (that you have to make reservations to go to) called III Forks and he had beautiful flowers waiting for me at our table. We really enjoyed the food and each others company.

We also have enjoyed being first time home owners. We have painted almost every room in our house so far and we have added little touches around the house which helps it feel more like ours. We haven't made many changes to the outside, except I planted flowers at the edge of our driveway and this summer we even had a patio put in. We feel so grateful that we have been blessed with a beautiful house that we can call home.
Note: (Yes, I'm fat in this picture. But I was 8 Months Pregnant and that's my excuse!)
Note: (See the dead cactus thing? It looks a lot better with flowers)

Brooklyn Stands Alone

Brooklyn has been working on the skill of standing by herself. Here is a picture that I managed to take of her practicing.

Brooklyn Gets her Ears Pierced

Last weekend Ricky and I decided that it was time to get Brooklyn's ears pierced. One of my friends little girls got hers done and it looked so cute. As we were walking into the mall I started having second thoughts about going through with it. But my brother Andrew kept saying just do it. So we walked over to Claire's and got it done. It was horrible at first, Brooklyn was screaming and I had all these people glaring at me like I was the meanest mom in the world for doing this to my daughter. But it went so quick and Brooklyn cried for a minute max. Once she got her sucker she was fine. I'm really glad that we got her ears pierce! She looks so cute and it seems like her earrings don't even bother her. If anyone else is debating about doing it or not, I highly recommend getting it done.
